At the No More Deaths rally/press conference for Walt Staton, who was due at a sentencing hearing after being convicted earlier this year of littering for placing water in the desert for migrants. Walt had refused to do the 300 hours of community service originally ordered by the judge.
At Friday’s hearing, Federal Magistrate Jennifer Guerin denied Walt’s motion to modify or suspend his sentence pending appeal, and scheduled a probation violation hearing for December 21st.

He should cite precedence and demand that his sentence be commuted.

You mean Dan Millis? Walt actually was charged with a slightly different and more serious offense, "knowingy littering" rather than just littering. So while Dan got no sentence, Walt’s case is a different story. And who knows what will happen with the 13 more volunteers whose trial is in January…
