About 600 unidentified migrants who died crossing into the U.S. in the last few years are buried here just outside of Holtville, California. they are buried in unmarked, uncasketed graves and activists come and place crosses and flowers.
Officialy as of 2007 over 4000 border-crossing migrant deaths, but probably more like 10,000, have occured on the border in the last decade, largely as a result of the U.S. tightening border controls in such a way that crossing migrants are forced to cross in very inhospitable areas, mostly desert.

Hi Steev Hise, I am looking for images of this cemetery to use in my upcoming book. Can I talk with you about permissions to use this one, and if you have a high-res copy of it? Thanks, Sarah
