review:
This lived up to the other books in the series. I think the first one is still the best, perhaps just because the setting and main character were fresh and surprising - a devout buddhist thai detective in Bangkok, dealing with cases in the midst of corruption and poverty and violence.



It's basically a standard noiresque potboiler, with some spooky spiritual stuff sprinkled in, and lots of sex and drugs. not great literature. but entertaining.
