Super funny satire that touches on a lot of things, including the expected central asian oil wars, Halliburton, defense contractors, Russian thugs, immigration problems and joys, spoiled rich kids at small midwestern liberal arts colleges, Judaism and Jewishness, and much more. I didn't like this book quite as much as Shteyngart's more recent one, Super Sad True Love Story, but it's still quite awesome. Especially funny is his parody of himself, Jerry Shteynfarb, a sleazy hipster creative writing teacher who steals away the main character's girlfriend.
